Congratulations to Matt Torjussen, Salford CDT cohort 1 student, who has earned a place in the 2026 University of Salford Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition final. Matt impressed judges with his ability to distil complex doctoral research into a compelling three‑minute presentation, securing his position as one of the 3MT finalists who will represent the School of Science, Engineering and Environment at this summer’s SPARC PGR Conference. The achievement highlights both his communication skills and the innovative nature of his research within the Sustainable Sound Futures CDT.

The 3MT competition, originally developed by the University of Queensland, challenges postgraduate researchers to present their work in a concise, engaging format that can be understood by a non‑specialist audience. Matt’s success reflects the growing strength of Salford’s research community and its commitment to developing confident, impactful communicators.
