Industry Partners
The Sustainable Sound Futures CDT progamme offers industrial and other partners opportunities to join our network and engage with the CDT through various opportunities such as PhD projects, funding, masterclasses, site visits, hosting students and providing access to facilities, data, software and case studies.
By engaging with our high-profile doctoral training programme in Acoustics, your organisation will benefit though a multiple of ways, for example:
- Leveraging your research investment.
- Working with doctoral researchers to support your organisation’s research.
- Shaping the training for future leaders in Acoustics.
- Hosting internships to support your research.
- Accessing world class research facilities and expertise with early access to research results.
- Collaborating with leading academic researchers and institutions and attending networking events across the partnership with like-minded organisations.
We offer two main pathways to engaging with the CDT programme and with our students.
Sponsoring a PhD project
Sponsoring a PhD project is a highly cost-effective way to drive relevant leading-edge research that your organisation is unable to undertake in-house due to factors such as expertise, equipment or funding.
As a sponsor, you work with us to identify a medium-term research project that benefits your organisation but also has the academic depth needed for doctorate study. You might also provide case studies, data, access to facilities and/or offer the student a placement opportunity. You will be involved in the student’s supervision via periodic progress meetings. Many research students will go on to join their sponsors in key technical roles.
Both the PhD student and your staff will benefit from effective knowledge transfer through the CDT’s activities. In addition to gaining skills and insights from your project student, their supervisory team, the wider cohort and your staff will have the opportunity to impart industry-specific skills and insights to our students.
Supporting the CDT training programme
In-kind contributions from project partners are highly valued. They take the form of engaging with the CDT through our conference and seminars, making case studies, data or software available for researchers, giving access to facilities, delivering masterclasses, hackathons and opening up other in-house training opportunities.
